Choose mudjacking if…

Choose foam if…

  • You need to use the surface immediately (driveways, garage aprons, business entries)
  • The settlement was caused by water — foam will not wash out the way slurry and soil can
  • The soil is weak and you do not want to add a hundred pounds per cubic foot on top of it
  • Appearance matters and you want the smallest possible patch marks

When Leveling Works — and When You Need Replacement

Leveling only makes sense when two things are true: the slab is structurally intact, and the settlement has stopped or its cause can be fixed. A slab is a candidate for lifting if it has sunk as a unit (or in a few large, sound pieces), the cracks are hairline or clean single breaks, and the surface itself is in good shape.

Replacement is the right call when:

  • The concrete itself is failing. Widespread spalling, crumbling edges, or a surface that is flaking apart cannot be fixed from below. Lifting bad concrete just gives you level bad concrete.
  • The slab is badly cracked. Once a panel has broken into many small pieces, injection pressure lifts them unevenly — you end up with a shattered slab at a new height.

Warning: Fix the Cause or It Sinks Again
